Statement By Elias Rojas Regarding Endorsement By Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest and Hawaii
Anchorage, Alaska - July 24, 2018 – The following statement was released by the Rojas campaign regarding the endorsement of Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest and Hawaii*:
"I am proud to have earned the endorsement of Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest and Hawaii,” Rojas said. “I have worked side-by-side with them over the last 11+ years in Alaska and across the country advancing social justice causes. They have been and continue to be an amazing ally for women and families. Alaska is a better place because of their involvement and investment in moving Alaska forward.”
“We know Elias will be a dedicated advocate for the people who depend on our organization,” said Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest and Hawaii CEO Jennifer Allen. “One in four American women has visited a Planned Parenthood health center in her lifetime. Elias recognizes the importance of supporting reproductive health, rights, and justice for people in his district and for all Alaskans.”
In 2018, Elias Rojas was a steering committee member for the Fair Anchorage campaign and worked with Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest and Hawaii on the No On Proposition 1 campaign to defeat Anchorage's anti-transgender bathroom initiative. The “bathroom bill” was soundly rejected by voters in April 2018.
Rojas is currently working with Planned Parenthood and group of concerned organizations and community advocates to encourage Senator Lisa Murkowski to vote against President Donald Trump's problematic Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh.
